This site covers rendering questions for Mansfield and the nearby locations listed below. The exact property matters more than the place label when planning a survey: access, wall construction, condition and any relevant designation all need to be checked for the address. Nearby-location listings help organise enquiries and information; they are not separate claims about identical building conditions.

Mansfield town data and district data are different
The Census 2021 built-up-area figures describe Mansfield using an ONS statistical boundary. Detached accommodation accounts for 27.1% of households, semi-detached for 41.0%, terraced for 17.9% and flats or maisonettes for 14.0% in that published dataset. These are household accommodation figures, not a count of rendered properties. They should not be used to infer a local preference for any finish.
The VOA build-period information has a different geography and denominator. The 2026 release records 8,140 pre-1919 domestic properties out of 51,860 in Mansfield council's area, with 720 properties of unknown age retained in the total. It provides district context, not a measured percentage for the town or for a particular neighbourhood. Keep those distinctions if using the figures in a project discussion.
02
Check heritage information against the address
The local evidence inventory identifies 132 unique listed-building designation entries whose points fall within the Mansfield built-up-area boundary used for the analysis. The count uses the October 2026 designation extract and December 2022 boundary; it counts entries, not individual houses. It is useful context but does not replace checking the actual designation record and extent for a property.
Mansfield Council publishes conservation-area appraisals, including Market Place and Bridge Street. Read the relevant map and current council information before making assumptions about an address. The existence of a district conservation-area list does not put the whole of Mansfield within a designation. If the work concerns older fabric, lime rendering may be a relevant technical discussion, subject to the wall assessment and applicable requirements.
03
Prepare a location-specific project brief
For a new extension, provide the address, elevations and construction drawings alongside the intended wall rendering scope. For an existing building, include safe ground-level photographs of the finish and any defects. Note access constraints such as shared passages, a glazed roof or an occupied commercial entrance. This information helps identify what a site inspection needs to resolve.
Whole-house rendering and commercial rendering can involve several trades and more than one phase. Record the actual site arrangements rather than borrowing assumptions from another nearby property. The additional-location list remains visible throughout the site, while the service pages explain the work itself. For a property outside Mansfield, include the precise address and identify any shared access or neighbouring structures that affect the work.
Bars use a 0–100% scale. Published household percentages; rounding and other accommodation mean these categories may not total 100%. They do not describe wall materials or condition.

Mansfield built-up area
NHLE release 2026-10-27; December 2022 ONS boundary. Counts designation entries, not houses. A listing point does not define the legal extent of a listed property.
These records describe the area. A rendering survey still needs to establish the masonry, existing coatings and condition of your own walls. For a listed property or an address in a conservation area, check the proposed work with the responsible planning authority.
